matt newman

Matt Newman, Principal, Chief Executive Officer

Matthew is originally from Trumbull, Connecticut and attended Boston University. As a senior in college, he began a publishing company that put out real estate, apartment rental, and roommate magazines. These opportunities introduced him to hundreds of contacts in the real estate community as well as ancillary fields such as banking, inspections, and real estate law. In the mid 1990s, Matthew started a real estate company that today has three Unlimited Sotheby’s International Realty offices in Brookline, Jamaica Plain, and Newton Center. He is a silent partner but participates in corporate development and consultation.

Matthew began buying, managing, and developing real estate in the early to mid 1990s. At first he bought single units, three family houses, and small projects. Now over 25 years later, he owns over 500 residential units, commercial properties and development, has completed dozens of condominium conversions, acquisition-conversion-management situations, and renovated and sold numerous assets, and properties, has developed dozens of projects and has brought and sold over 180 million dollars worth of property in the area. Recently closed on a 50 unit building in Montreal, finished 4-5 local projects in Brookline, South Boston, and East Boston. Currently working on a 5 unit historic condo conversion in East Boston, a 20 unit ground up construction in Eastie, three 3 family complete renovations in Southie, a project in Brighton, and multiple single unit renovations, as well as seeking new acquisitions.
sara wolanski

Sara Sicilian, Chief Operating Officer

Sara’s interest in real estate began in 2008, when she moved to Boston and became an office assistant at Newman Properties. She then spent 4 years in the healthcare field, but returned to Newman Properties and the real estate world in 2014. Sara helped to integrate the use of AppFolio property management software at Newman Properties. She is responsible for all operations, both in management and development. In her spare time, she enjoys trying new recipes and volunteering at a local dog rescue.

karen anderson

Karen Anderson, Chief Financial Officer

Karen is a former Financial Controller who’s career has spanned 20 years in a business management role. Karen entered the business world after college, starting first with Marriott Hotels and then branching out to multiple different industries, bringing a vast amount of experience to her new role at Newman Properties. Karen has three children, whom she is extremely proud of. She loves traveling and cooking in her free time.

Andy Heley, Acquisitions & Portfolio Manager

Andy has been working in the Boston area real estate market since 2005 after spending a few years at a big public accounting firm. He started out as a real estate agent focusing primarily on rentals and quickly moved into sales and property management. Andy ran a successful real estate office in Allston for several years before leaving to focus more on the property management and investing side of the business. He joined the team at Newman Properties in 2013 as a property manager for about half of the portfolio. He quickly expanded his roll to include assisting with the sourcing and closing of new acquisitions and also started to partner on some of the deals that the company was buying. Today Andy is overseeing the management and operations for all of our South Shore and Cape Cod properties, working to identify and execute on new projects and properties for acquisition, and he is a partner on most of the South Shore and Salem portfolio. And after all of that he still continues to buy, sell, and invest in real estate on his own as well.

mariana salerno

Mariana Salerno, Senior Property Manager

Before joining Newman Properties in 2011, Mariana worked in financial services. Since joining the Newman Properties team, she has grown into a Senior Property Manager role. Mariana manages our properties in East Boston and Winthrop, MA. She evaluates new properties as well as overseeing renovation projects. In addition to her roles with us, Mariana is a Massachusetts Notary Public. She was born in Rio de Janeiro and has been a resident of Boston for over 30 years. She is multilingual in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. She loves to travel and explore new cultures. She is outgoing, extremely organized, and motivated.

Amanda Allison

Amanda Allison, Senior Administrator

Prior to joining Newman Properties, Amanda worked in animal care full-time, managing a kennel that housed up to one hundred dogs per day. When she wasn’t at the kennel, she spent her time managing her family’s income properties. In addition to income properties, Amanda’s family also owns a general contracting business, so she grew up in construction zones, watching her family buy, sell, rent and flip houses, condos and apartments. As much as Amanda loves animals, she decided she wanted to go all-in on real estate and development, so she joined our team at Newman Properties!
mariana salerno

Bill Cordts, Property Management Coordinator, Tenant Relations

Bill has been a real estate agent in the Boston area since 2009. Since 2018, he has divided his time between sales and management, managing a portfolio of multifamily and condominium units for a local company from 2018-2020 and joining Newman Properties in 2021. As Management and Leasing Coordinator for Newman Properties, Bill oversees a wide variety of operations and works with staff to optimize organizational performance. Bill continues to work as a Realtor as well, helping a diverse set of clientele buy and sell homes throughout the Greater Boston area. 

Kevin Leech

Kevin Leech, Marketing Coordinator 

Kevin obtained his FAA Part 107 unmanned aircraft license in 2021, and after doing so, he started his own business that uses drones to capture photography and videography from the skies. This transitioned into him joining the Newman Properties team in 2022 as our Marketing Coordinator, where he has continued to create attention-grabbing media. In his time with the company, Kevin also started showing apartments and working on filling upcoming units. In his free time, Kevin enjoys playing soccer, spending time with his dog, Oatmeal, and taking weekend trips with his wife.

Alex Bardin, Partner, Lead Consultant

Alex brings over 15 years of Commercial Real Estate experience to the team and leads the Retail Division of Newman Properties. He oversees acquisitions, dispositions and financing for the firm. Alex and his wife, Abby, live in Natick with their 2 children and dog. In his spare time, Alex volunteers for many youth local sports leagues and enjoys coaching youth basketball.

Amy Rivard, Accounting & Administrative Assistant

Amy brings a wealth of experience to her real estate career. With over 15 years of entrepreneurship in owning and operating her own business, she has mastered the true art of customer service. Formerly a national educator for a Fortune 500 company, Amy started a real estate investment business with her husband that has been ongoing for over 12 years. Working long hours and weekends while taking care of customers is second nature to her. Amy joined Newman Properties back in 2017 and is now back using her expertise in various roles.

Alexandra Daly

Alexandra Daly, Administrative and Management Assistant

Alexandra was born and raised in Massachusetts and currently resides in Whitman with her husband, son, and two daughters. She has experience in managing residential and commercial renovations and is currently part owner of an interior design company. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and two weimaraners, Moose and Murphy. 

Alexandra Daly

Andrew Diamond, Syndication and Acquisitions Associate

Andrew is the Acquisitions and Syndications Associate at Newman Properties. He is a graduate of Columbia University’s Masters of Real Estate Development program and is a co-founder of Columbia’s Real Estate Entrepreneurship Club. After graduate school, Andrew consulted with Hudson Group, developer of Radian Boston, building financial models for their acquisitions. Additionally, he assisted WinnCompanies, the largest affordable housing manager in the United States, with the development of large projects utilizing Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. Andrew lives in Newton with his fiancé and Ody, his favorite dog. When not walking Ody, his hobbies include playing pickleball, bike riding, and reading the Wall Street Journal.

Cesar Salinas, On-site Manager

Cesar provides exemplary maintenance and cleaning services for our buildings in East Boston, MA. Cesar joined Newman Properties in 2015 and has been an outstanding addition to the team.

Zachary Newman

Zachary Newman, Marketing Intern

Oldest son of the Principal of the company, Zachary is an avid scuba diver, loves deep sea fishing, plays lacrosse and snowboards. His duties at Newman Properties include coordinating the events calendar and attending events that include Open Houses, Real Estate Investment Club Meetings, Fundraisers, and Seminars. He has attended open houses throughout the area, fundraisers for the Mayor as well as City Councilors of Boston, fundraisers for State Senators and Representatives, and seminars including Ins and Outs of Wholesaling, Networking, and State of the Market. He is currently attending the University of Hawaii.
